On November 8 ASLEF announced that its members at Southern had voted by 79•1% in favour of accepting an offer from Govia Thameslink Railway to resolve the dispute dating back to April 2016 over the extension of DriveT-Only Operation. ASLEF reported that the turnout in the ballot had been 87•1%. According to ASLEF General Secretary Mick Whelan, the offer from GTR which has now been accepted 'works for the staff and the company'. In parallel talks, the union has secured a five-year pay deal for 2016 to 2020 running until the end of the current Thameslink, Southern & Great Northern franchise, giving its members a cumulative pay increase of 28•5%.
