Members at odds with ASLEF leadership over DOO

Behind the announcement of the suspension of industrial action at Southern (above), there is strong evidence of widely differing attitudes towards the extension of driver-only operation on the part of the leadership and members of ASLEF. While the drivers' union has, alongside sister union RMT, declared its opposition to any extension of DOO, documents seen by RBI confirm that ASLEF has been actively engaging with Govia Thameslink Railway over plans to extend DOO at Southern for more than a year.
