Mayors want Crossrail for the north

The two newly-elected Labour mayors of Greater Manchester and the Liverpool City Region have called on the government to prioritise rail investment in the north of England by committing to building 'Crossrail for the north', a project also known as Northern Powerhouse Rail and previously HS3.
