Why We Need Better Management of Low-Activity Radioactive Waste

The patchwork of legislation and regulations governing low-activity wastes assigns names and disposal requirements to them according to their origins and with little regard to their actual radiological hazard. As a result, some LAWs have limited and expensive disposal options, while others that pose similar radiation hazards are mostly ignored.
