Two Novel Approaches: Lowering Waste Management Life-Cycle Costs through Onsite Volume Reduction of Class 8 and C Wastes

With the uncertainty of Class B and C disposal options and pricing following the July 2008 loss of access to the Barnwell Low-Level Waste Disposal Facility, the sole national Class A, B, and C LLW disposal site, 90 percent of the nation's LLW generators are seeking new means to cost-effectively disposition these wastes without prejudicing future disposal options.
