Advanced Approaches to Reduce Waste, Slash Costs

Pacific Gas and Electric Company's (PG&E's) Diablo Canyon Power Plant pioneered new practices for reducing the generation of low-level waste. These practices are now helping other nuclear plants reduce waste volumes and slash disposal and storage costs. PG&E's practices formed the foundation for a collaborative effort with NextEra Energy Resources' Seabrook Station and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to document proven waste reduction techniques in an EPRI guideline report for use by the entire nuclear industry.
