Inkjet Rules

Two California air pollution control districts (San Joaquin and Bay Area) have recently promulgated rules that impact inkjet printing.rnThe San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District adopted Rule 4607 which regulates inkjet printing. The rule has two criteria-one is recordkeeping and the other is applicability of VOC limits. Recordkeeping for digital printing operations (Section 6.1.6) would be required for water-based inks or UV inks when print capacity is 10,000 ft~2-per-hour or more. Any operations specifically listed under Section 4.2 of the rule are "non-exempt."
