The authors consider a method for attaining ultrashort autocorrelation time of pulses at the output of a trans-atmospheric radio line under conditions when the characteristics of antennas and the propagation medium are frequency dependent. The main idea consists in deliberately introducing a predistortion to the spectra of the initial supernarrow pulses of nanosecond duration. The relative level of energy losses caused by frequency-selective absorption of pulses propagating over a radio line including an extremely long atmospheric segment is estimated depending on the autocorrelation time attainable.
