Summary of the results of the Wisconsin Test Facility phasing anomaly investigations

摘要

Since 1974, many Wisconsin Test Facility (WTF) phasing anomalies have been observed. Among these anomalies are (a) ° phasing does not equal (360° - °) phasing, contrary to the normal behavior of crossed dipoles; (b) the maximum field strength at any single receiving location does not occur when = 0 or 180°; (c) the WTF antenna phasing shift appears to be -20° to -30°; (d) the WTF effective dipole moment does not appear to be independent of ; and (e) the WTF antenna phasing shift appears to be a function of azimuth angle. By a combination of near-field and far-field measurements, we have determined empirically a new WTF pattern factor that quantitatively describes these anomalies.
