Sir, Review of epidemiology studies of childhood leukaemia near nuclear facilities: answer to the commentary from Fairlie and Korblein

To conclude, we maintain our statement that 'some clusters of childhood leukaemia cases exist locally, but multi-site studies around nuclear installations do not indicate an increased risk globally'. We agree that the results obtained in Germany among very young children below age 5 in the 0-4-km area around nuclear power plants are very puzzling, and that this population merits a specific interest in the future. But, we disagree with Fairlie and Koerblein that these results are coherent with those obtained in other countries. Regarding the currently available literature, the German results are isolated.
