RESULTS OF CZECH NATIONAL STUDY OF RADIATION EXPOSURE FROM RADIOTHERAPY OF NON-MALIGNANT DISEASES, IN PARTICULAR OF HEEL SPURS

Radiotherapy of heel spurs belongs to one with the lowest radiation exposure in radiotherapy (the effective dose is ＜1 mSv for one treatment fraction with the prescribed dose of 1 Gy to the target volume) and its radiation exposure is comparable with diagnostic X-ray procedures. However, there is a need to pay attention to it because in the Czech Republic large numbers of patients undergo this type of treatment. This causes the fact that from all diagnoses of radiotherapy for non-malignant diseases treated on X-ray therapy units in the Czech Republic, the radiotherapy of heel spurs makes the highest contribution to the total collective effective dose.
