摘要

The UN Population Conference in Cairo reported that the world population today is 5,657 million and increasing by 94 million per year. This tremendous rate of population growth is a global concern in respect to environmental conservation and sustainable development. In order to meet the increasing consumption of food and energy and the rising standard of living, evolutionary technologies which are environmentally friendly, are indispensable. In this context, a number of advanced technologies have been brought about by the use of radiation and isotopes. This paper highlights radiation technology applications in industry, environmental conservation, and agriculture.
