摘要

To investigate the electronic structure of CuO the Compton profile (CP) of polycrystalline CuO has been measured using 59.54 keV γ-radiation from ~(241)Am source. The measured data have been compared with our theoretical results based on the renormalized free atom model using Watson's + 1 well solution for the oxygen 2p state. Different Cu 3d and O 2p electronic configurations are considered as valence states in the theoretical calculations. A fluctuating valence state of CuO is found, and the best agreement with experiment is obtained for a Cu 3d~(9.6) O 2p~(5.4) configuration.
