The title of this article sounds like a bit of advice to Guy Fawkes! But no, it's about wing ribs, and how to draw them through modern technology (a.k.a. a PC). Recently, as a break from WWI aircraft, I decided to have a go at a WWII type. It had elliptical wings, with a thickness chord ratio of 16% at the root down to 9% at the tip. Not the easiest to plot. First thoughts were to use the old 'sandwich' method. However, I confess that I'm not a fan. With that sort of taper in Thickness/Chord (T/C) ratio, unless 'space' blanks are put in, the ribs come out with quite a pronounced edge. I then looked at a few of the commercial programs available, but decided to follow the KISS principle, and just have a go myself.
