The Tempest V was developed from the Typhoon, making use of newer technology to give a thinner wing, reducing drag and producing a faster aircraft. To fit the required cannon armament into the thinner wing it had to be broader nearer the centre than the Typhoon so it was given an elliptical shape like that of the Spitfire (and still needed 'blisters' to clear the cannon breeches). Unlike the Spitfire there was little that could be said to be delicate about the plane. It was just big, fast and brutally powerful, finding fame in 'rhubarbs' over the continent and V1 busting. Like many other modellers I rather like its bestial looks and the chin radiator isn't as vulnerable on belly landings as it might appear providing it's well strengthened with GRR I don't suppose my model is likely to win any scale competitions; I cheated a bit on the wing and fuselage sections to simplify construction and ended up with a 10% larger than scale tail. But otherwise it's accurate in outline, looking the part both on the ground and in the air.
