In order to investigate the distribution, development, and evolution of the strata in the South Yellow Sea Basin (SYSB), seismic and core data were analyzed. Fourteen (14) reflecting interfaces and 13 seismic units are identified, and a stratigraphic framework since 1.81 Ma B.P. is established. The deposition rate has changed since 126 ka B.P. The stratigraphic model shows that the SYSB responded to sea-level changes during the same period (126 ka B.P.), which suggests a model change of the development of regional strata. Between 1.81 Ma B.P. and 126 ka B.P, the Zhejiang-Minnan Uplift (ZMU) obstructed the intrusion of seawater into the SYSB which is the main factor responsible for the development of regional strata.
