Success for Armcon Cementech on M5 project

Over the next 15 years, the steel barriers that run along nearly all motorway central reservations will be replaced with a new concrete safety barrier. Known as the 'Step Barrier', this technologically advanced restraint is said to offer improved safety over steel barriers for motorists and motorway maintenance teams.rnThe concrete for the new safety barrier is a C28/35 air-entrained fibre mix, with a specific slump required to allow the mix to be processed via a barrier slip-forming unit. A recent project on a section of the M5 motorway saw around 3,000m~3 of material used to replace a steel central barrier.
