The board of Dublin-based international building materials company CRH has announced the appointment of Nicky Hartery as chairman designate, to succeed current chairman Kieran McGowan who will retire after the company's annual general meeting on 9 May 2012. Cwt-y-Bugait and Llechwedd slate quarries, in North Wales, are to supply a total of 50,000 slates to replace the roofs of 40 houses in Blaenau Ffestiniog as part of a £136 million Welsh Housing Quality Standard investment programme to upgrade homes across Gwynedd.
