Earlier this year, a group of 42 professionals working in the quarrying, asphalt, concrete and related industries graduated from internationally recognized training courses offered through University of Derby business-to-business arm, University of Derby Corporate. Presided over by Andrew Hartley, managing director of strategic developments at the University, the ceremony, on 28 January, featured a special address by Mike Connell, national quality manager for Hanson Cement. The quarrying, asphalt and concrete technology training courses have been developed by University of Derby Corporate in partnership with the Institute of Quarrying, the Institute of Asphalt Technology and the Concrete Society, ensuring the content is aligned to employers' requirements.
