The importance of CPD and recognition of individuals

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has for a long time encouraged quarry operators to be able to demonstrate the competence of their workforce with active encouragement in the maintenance and development of skills through the gaining of Continuing Professional Development [CPD]. Underlining this is the launch of a three- to five-year programme relating to all aspects of workforce involvement, which ties in with Regulation 40 of the Quarries Regulations 1999. The Workforce Involvement programme is concerned with the true meaning of Regulation 40, embracing the views and involvement of everybody within the workforce to include those at operative and also supervisory levels.
