Hanson UK are supplying concrete for part of the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA) tram extension project, one of the UK's biggest construction projects outside London. The venture consists of six separate projects and Hanson are providing 45,000m~3 of specialist concrete for the track beds on one of these schemes. The contract with Colas Rail, one of the nine organizations that make up the MMA, is already under way and forms part of the renewal of the existing line In Wolverhampton. The £1.35 billion tram project, which will take place over 10 years, will improve transport links in the West Midlands and aid regeneration, as well as providing local jobs and training.
