Tarmac have been granted approval to expand Hendre Quarry, in Flintshire, North Wales, by 6.7ha. The permission will allow the extraction of more than 31 million tonnes of limestone, extending the working life of the quarry by 35 years and protecting 17 full-time jobs. CEMEX are converting their fleet of company cars and vans to hybrid and electric versions in the EMEA region. The change reflects the increasing availability of lower CO_2 vehicles and forms part of the company's 'Future in Action' strategy and commitment to net-zero CO_2. Mike Hudson, well known throughout the industry having spent his whole career managing and developing concrete and aggregate businesses in both the UK and Europe, has recently joined Poundfield Precast, part of the SigmaRoc Group, as business development manager.
