It used to be that when an Amateur Radio manufacturer brought out a "dc to daylight" communications receiver as an adjunct to its ham transceiver line, you knew what the box would provide: Generally good performance from VHF to the top of its tuning range -much better than any mass-market scanner - in keeping with the pedigree implied by its brand, teamed with quite useful MF/HF performance that could be expected to no more than equal that of the low-end MF/HF transceiver in the line.
