Waterland acquires another German folding box producer

Following the acquisition of Joh. Leupold GmbH & Co KG in July 2020, private equity company Water-land has absorbed yet another German folding box producer, Strobel AG, into its fold. Waterland told EUWID that it would acquire a majority stake in the company. Strobel's current owners, Friedrich and Monika Bechtold, will remain with the company during the transition phase.The companies did not provide financial details of the transaction. With support from Waterland, the two companies will expand their respective customer segments and geographical reach. They will mutually leverage and enhance product innovations, reads the companies' roadmap for the future. Strobel's product portfolio ranges from folding boxes to displays. The company further offers a range of services in areas such as order picking and logistics. Strobel says it places special focus on sustaina-bility and climate neutrality in development and production. The company has been certified and commended several times for its performance. For instance, the company was ranked first in energy revolution by German town of Roth and won the German packaging award in 2020. Strobel was the first Bavarian company to become completely climate neutral. Its customers include renowned brands from sports, fitness and wellness, food products, pet food and toys.
