Iberpapel schedules pulp mill rebuild for end of July

With the easing of countrywide lockdown measures, Spanish pulp and paper manufacturer Papelera Guipuzcoana de Zicunaga faces no further hurdles to begin the final phase of the long-planned pulp mill upgrade. Parent company Iberpapel informs that integration and commissioning of the new and upgraded equipment in the existing system of the pulp mill will start in July. The technical downtime of the pulp mill will last 50 days, during which time the company will also undertake other routine maintenance tasks at the entire pulp and paper mill. Iberpapel did not comment on the effect of the downtime on paper output. Iberpapel had originally planned to take the 50-day downtime in the second quarter but had to postpone it indefinitely due to tense Covid-19 situation and strict coronavirus containment measures in the country.
