Negotiations for board and publication paper on German market affected by price pressure

Price negotiations on the German magazine paper market have reached an advanced stage but were still far away from being done and dusted at the end of June. Magazine paper producers criticise unduly high expectations of some buyers when it comes to prospected price cuts. The prices hikes announced by a few producers for brown recycled corrugated case material grades appear to have no chance of successful implementation in June or July, but have served to stabilise prices, market players explained. Downward pressure on prices was seen to increase at the end of June on the German market for cartonboard due to developments on the raw material market. Core and coreboard prices in Germany remained unchanged at the start of the third quarter.
