More, more, more. Summer with its higher temperatures, higher gas prices, lawns that need watering, and vacation travelers, seems to accentuate the increasing demands that a growing (and more affluent) population places on our country's resources, both natural and manufactured. More cars travel more miles on more roads that are also clogged with more trucks carrying greater load weights to more stores and businesses. More houses and offices are cooled by more air conditioners and contain more appliances like computers, microwave ovens, and the like, requiring more electricity from more generating plants. Energy prices soar; no one wants generating plants in their neighborhoods; and the media have a field day reporting another "the sky is falling" disaster scenario.
