Sand and Gravel Delivery the Easy Way

Sometimes backfilling isjust about impossible. Ongoing construction can't be interrupted, or the site is congested or downright inaccessible. Similar difficulties surface when plans must be made to fill abandoned structures. Frequently these structures are inaccessible using traditional methods and equipment. Such problems led Richard Dun-lop and Robert Griffin to develop a system that uses compressed air to deliver a variety of materials―sand and gravel, crushed rock and base materials, rock dust and decomposed granite, and amended topsoil―up to 450 feet from the site's access point. Dunlop, who has been a concrete contractor in Southern California for 30 years, says the system is especially useful in hard-to-reach areas. In addition to backfilling concrete foundation walls, this system has been used to fill abandoned structures, such as wells and culverts; to place base material in preparation for concrete slab construction; and to place topsoil, which is useful where existing landscaping must be preserved.
