Comparison of the external costs of public transport and cars in urban areas: the case of the Greater Paris region

It is very widely accepted that urban transport outperforms the car around town in terms of rational energy use, eco-friendliness and safety. That said, quantified elements from the comparison are not always familiar. Therefore, it seemed useful to pinpoint these in the case of the Greater Paris (Ile-de-France) region, which has a full set of data allowing reliable estimates to be made.
