The Value of the Emerging Technology Forum: Looking Back at Boston & Ahead to Orlando

The last few months have been both busy and exciting times for APCO's Government Relations team. Activity ramped up on Capitol Hill before the winter holiday recess, and we have been actively preparing for two Emerging Technology Forums-one that successfully wrapped up in Boston in early December, and another that will take place Feb. 26-27 in Orlando, Fla. First, let's touch on our event in Boston, which by all accounts was a great success. We were pleased to host a number of high-ranking officials who provided attendees with timely, informative information. FirstNet board member Kevin McGinnis, chief of North East Mobile Health Services, explained the benefits he and other emergency medical service (EMS) professionals will reap with the deployment of the FirstNet nationwide network. For example, FirstNet could meet the information needs of EMS, such as situational awareness, common operating picture, accident triage, parallel processing and adoption of available diagnostic applications.
