Mobile commerce can be defined as the bastard child resulting from the unlikely union between electronic commerce and the wireless multimedia revolution. Since the demise of the e-commerce dot.coms and the failure of '2G+' technologies such as WAP, the prognosis for m-commerce has been downgraded: a difficult gestation period followed by an uncertain future often seems to be the best that can be hoped for by this new technology's anxious midwives.
