This Special Issue of Public Management Review offers an important opportunity to explore and discuss the realities of the multifacctcd relationships between sport and government. It specifically seeks to explore the broad spectrum of public management and governance of sport in the twenty-first century. By its nature, sport scholarship frequently crosses disciplinary boundaries; this Special Issue is an opportunity to widen the frame for both public management and sport scholars and to initiate and increase awareness of synergies and complementary approaches from an international perspective.
