Peter Levy, the founder and former chairman of Shaftesbury, has passed away after a short illness. He launched the West End property group in 1986 with £10m in initial capital and listed on the stock exchange the following year. He chaired the FTSE-250 company until his retirement in 2004 when Shaftesbury was valued at more than £350m.
