Jump in refinancing demand offsets drop off in acquisition finance

A surge in demand for refinancing deals kept the volume of loan requests buoyant in the first quarter of this year, according to Laxfield Capital's UK Commercial Real Estate Debt Barometer. The slowdown in the investment market hit demand for acquisition finance, which was down particularly sharply at the larger end. Requests for acquisition loans above £50m halved compared with the final quarter of last year.
