One punter who isn't going to start bidding online is Kishor Ruparelia, who is a regular at ballroom property auctions - and although his portfolio is worth £15m-£20m, he can't see himself stopping any time soon. A former car dealer from Wembley, north London, 58-year-old Ruparelia loves the wheeler-dealer atmosphere, meeting his friends, watching his rivals and seeing where the biggest players are laying their money. "It is a day out for me and usually we go off to lunch afterwards," he says, "I have never bought online and don't think that I ever will. It's a different thing altogether. You do not know who else is bidding, if anyone, and a real auction gives you the confidence to buy.
