Jaguar Land Rover motors ahead with big demand for local warehouse space

A large chunk of the limited supply of big-shed space on the market in the Midlands has been let or gone under offer in a spate of deals over recent months. The biggest letting saw Amazon take 600,000 sq ft of Goodman's 1970s-built 1m sq ft Bigfoot unit in Daventry. Logistics company Norbert Dentressangle will operate the warehouse, which will handle Amazon's bulkier goods, on behalf of the online retail giant. The rent is believed to be £4-£4.50/sq ft. Two units totalling more than 1m sq ft have gone under offer in Corby. Smyths Toys Superstores is believed to be close to signing a deal at Perland's 500,000 sq ft Max 500 building, which was formerly occupied by logistics operator Wincanton. Staples is the occupier in the second transaction, Segro has placed 528,108 sq ft under offer to the stationery retailer for a national distribution centre at its Logistics Property Partnership Corby building.
