To many people, the Golden Triangle conjures up Images of the subtropical forests and beaches of Southeast Asia, a region best known for its erstwhile position as the world's leading producer of heroin. But mention it to anyone in the UK logistics industry and a decidedly less exotic region within Britain's Midlands will probably spring to mind, the area penned in by the M1, M6 and M42 motorways. The Colden Triangle, in the centre of the country, has long been the default choice for any logistics occupier looking for a base for national distribution. Depending on who you speak to, somewhere between 90% and 98% of the UK population can be reached within one day's drive of the triangle. Even so, some have now started to question whether the days of its dominance as a UK logistics location may be numbered.
