The big shed drought is finally upon us. When the crash came four years ago, almost 29m sq ft of big warehouse space lay empty in the UK. Then the developers shut up shop and barely another square inch was built.In the meantime, take-up has eroded that figure, so that barely more than 9m sq ft of new big shed space remains to be let, figures from Jones Lang LaSalle show. That constitutes less than a year's take-up, even in a fairly average year such as 2011, when occupiers snapped up a little more than 13m sq ft of good-quality, big warehouse space.
