Aldi will not build its new distribution centre on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent and has placed the site on the market. The German discount supermarket chain completed the purchase of the 32 acre plot in May 2009, but it is now too small for the occupier's requirements.Steve Harris, a director at Harris Keane, which represents Aldi, said that he had received enquiries from both developers and occupiers for the site. He added that once the disposal is complete, Aldi will begin to look for a larger site in the south-east.
