Vague targets halt asset managers

The Audit Commission criticised the government over the targets it sets for local authority property managers at the Association of Chief Estates Surveyors (ACES) conference last month. It says there are lots of targets but no guidance on how to achieve them. John Kirkpatrick (below), director of studies at the Audit Commission, says government targets for property asset managers are too vague and do not let local authorities choose what is best for their own property assets. The message sat well with a crowd that could have been hostile.
