London mayor boris johnson has ditched the London Plan in his bid to create 50,000 affordable housing units for the capital over the next three years.Johnson told a property industry gathering at central London's Dorchester hotel last week that they need not wait for formal changes to the London Plan - the main development strategy for the capital - before following his ideas to kick-start the housing market.The mayor said that he is pushing ahead with his First Steps programme to use Greater London Authority land for cut-price housing for middle income families.'We're not going to get a new London Plan completed until 2012. This is absolutely insane in my view. But we're going to go ahead with First Steps as fast as we can and the London Development Agency is proceeding with lots of things ...
