BPF urges next government to reform 'outdated'business rates

The British Property Federation (BPF) has set out its key recommendations for the next government, with reform of the "outdated" business rates regime at the top of its priority list. In its general election manifesto, published today, the industry lobby group calls on the next government to commit to a fundamental review of the business rates regime, which it argues is outdated and unfair. Other recommendations include reforming council tax, devolving powers to local leaders and encouraging local authorities to support a professional private rented sector (see box).
