Sir David Bell, vice-chancellor of the University of Reading, was in Malaysia this week to brief local schools and academics on plans for a new campus to train south-east Asian real estate professionals. Reading's first overseas campus will provide a range of built environment courses from 2015. It is part of Malaysia's 600 acre Education City -known as EduCity - under construction in the southern city of Johor Bahru and scheduled to be completed next year. It is the first of its kind in Asia, and comprises universities and other higher education institutes, research and development centres, student housing and sports facilities. The University of Reading Malaysia will occupy a 15 acre campus at EduCity, where programmes for around 2,000 students will be taught by new and existing staff from its UK faculties, including Henley Business School, which teaches real estate.
