Standard Life tunes in to QVCs Chiswick HQ

Standard Life is to buy television shopping channel QVCs headquarters at Chiswick Park in west London for a sum above the asking price, in one of the most hotly contested office transactions outside central London. The pension fund manager is understood to have beaten interest from UK funds and overseas investors to buy Building 8 from Schroders at a figure thought to be around £71m, which would reflect a yield of under 5%. Standard Life is understood to have placed under offer the property, which is considered one of the most desirable offices in the south-east, before other investors formally submitted bids for the building.
