Unsung heroes are quitely regenerating the regions

In the last boom many housebuilders, developers and investors jumped on the urban regeneration bandwagon. "Eco-bling" was everywhere, and very basic schemes - ground-floor retail with flats above - were dressed upas "mixed-use" developments. These were approved by local authorities desperate to transform the face of towns and cities. Much of it wasn't clever, and it certainly was not real reqeneration.
