'Shard is sign of greatest city on earth', says mayor

More than 120 members of the City Property Association admired the view from London's latest landmark, the Shard, at the association's annual drinks reception on 5 March. Speakers at the event were Sellar Property Group founder Irvine Sellar and mayor of London BorisJohnson, who described the Shard as more than just a spectacular piece of architecture, and a "sign of the confidence in London: the greatest city on earth". The event was hosted by construction company Mace and the association. The media partner was Property Week. Johnson told the audience: "There are huge sums [of money] circling the globe looking for the best place to invest, and they are ready to land in London. I hope the people in this room will be involved in the delivery of those projects. "A sign of confidence is looking across the Thames here at all the cranes in London.
