Planning and development experts are urging politicians to consider radical planning measures such as opening the green belt and dividing London into five boroughs in a bid to speed up development. This week, City law firm Addleshaw Goddard launched a new planning manifesto - revealed exclusively to Property Week- that it hopes will influence politicians ahead of next year's general election. It asked around 50 developers and planners working across the UK to suggest ways the system could be made more efficient. The proposals included a Canadian-style national plan which would outline all the housing, transport and infrastructure developments required over a long-term period, and a call to review of the role of the green belt.
