Welbeck's Whitehall Met buy snubs MPs

London's Metropolitan Police is pushing ahead with the £40m sale of a building that is subject to a security row at the highest levels of government. The Metropolitan Police Authority is believed to have accepted an offer from London-based developer Welbeck Land to buy the Curtis Green Building, in the heartland of Whitehall and one block away from the Ministry of Defence. It is thought parliamentary officials have made several attempts to gain control over the property on Victoria Embankment, attempting to buy it for £25m around the time it was put up for sale through Knight Frank in November.
