Brakes takes on Tesco shed

Grocery supplier Brakes Brothers has signed a lease to occupy a 270,000 sq ft distribution centre in Harlow, Essex. The company has signed a 25-year lease for around £6/sq ft at the LondonMetric and Green Park Investments-owned industrial unit Flex, in Ash Industrial Estate, Harlow. Supermarket Tesco occupied the shed until it surrendered its lease last September with 9,5 years remaining. The unit, which was sold by Tesco to the JV as part of its property sale-and-leaseback drive in 2011 for £22,9m, has lain empty since.
