Fifteen to 20 years ago, Joseph Giulietti was called to testify at an investigation following an Amtrak - Conrail train collision. To establish credibility, Giulietti recited the railroading positions he'd held-brakeman, conductor, freight and passenger locomotive engineer, road foreman, engineer school teacher and assistant manager of operating rules. When he'd finished, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers' local chairman turned and said, "I object to the witness; it's obvious the man can't hold a regular job."
